This allows us to provide a more complete coverage to our clients.
For the build out of the Marine Operations and Technical teams we have put great effort in hiring the best people in the industry. We have identified the need for extensive maritime experience to our business, and have hired 6 Captains and 4 Chief engineers to provide stability and ensure we maintain the standards we set ourselves.
Laurent Cadji founded Union Maritime in 2006 with the aim of building the leading oil product logistics platform in West Africa. Laurent started his career working for Credit Suisse and Morgan Stanley where he worked in the Commodities unit trading oil.
Michael Kotsapas joined Union Maritime in 2016 as Chief Financial Officer. He is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales with over 15 years experience in the shipping industry. Michael was previously a partner in the Shipping and Transport group at Moore Stephens in London.
Mike Powell has over 35 years of experience as a Mariner. He is a former ship Master and solicitor, with experience in senior roles in commercial operations, technical operations and marine assurance for Maersk Tankers, BP and Glencore. At Union Maritime he focuses on organisation, processes and systems supporting Operations.
Tristan Frisell joined Union Maritime in 2014 and is responsible for coordinating the legal, compliance and administrative functions within the company. Prior to joining Union Maritime Tristan graduated from the University of Exeter and was called to the bar.
After graduating from the University of Bristol with a degree in Economics Tom served as a Warfare Officer in the Royal Navy. Tom Woods joined Union Maritime in January 2013 and focuses on fleet chartering. He worked on the West Africa operations team prior to joining the chartering desk.
Mark has considerable experience in maritime claims which he acquired with companies such as Phibro Energy, Mitsui & Co and Arcadia Petroleum. He also spent time at sea as a navigation officer for BP and Esso Petroleum. Mark is responsible for running Union Maritime’s Post Fixtures desk and ensuring that all claims are processed as efficiently as possible.
Edward Evison has been in the group since 2013. He is responsible for the commercial operation of Union Maritime tankers trading clean products in the international fleet. He holds a degree from the University of Manchester.
